Staff

Capuchin Retreat is blessed with many talented and dedicated people who work to serve the spiritual needs of all who come through our front doors. We have a preaching staff of two full time Capuchins and four part time lay women, along with an auxiliary staff of eight. We have Ovations Dining Service with Chef James and the faithful kitchen staff as your dining room hosts. We are blessed with many volunteers throughout the year without whom our Franciscan hospitality would be lacking some things. Finally, we have an Advisory Board of dedicated and eager people who advise the Director of Capuchin Retreat in the areas of finance, fundraising, marketing and spirituality.

Fr. Ken Reinhart, Capuchin, is the Director of Capuchin Retreat. He began his ministry at the center in the spring of 2007. Previously, he did ministry in parishes, was in leadership in his province, formation work with seminarians and worked at other retreat centers.. As Director he oversees the center, planning for it's future through programming, finances and marketing.

Rose Ann Miller is the Administrator of Capuchin Retreat and the friendly voice when you call. She has given the past twenty-three years in dedicated service to Capuchin Retreat. As Administrator, she oversees the daily operation of the center including the plant, housekeeping, kitchen, scheduling, finances and many odds and ends.

Fr. Jerry Kessel, Capuchin, is a member of the preaching staff. He has spent 18 years in the preaching ministry, and has spent the last10 years at Capuchin Retreat. He has furthered his studies in Spirituality at the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley,CA. He is fluent in Spanish and ministers with the Hispanic community in the area.

Fr. John Guimond, Capuchin, is a member of the preaching staff for the past four years. He comes to us from 10 years in parish ministry and previously spent 11 years in the preaching ministry at our other retreat centers. He has also ministered to the Native Americans in Montana. He is known for his extensive knowledge of the Scriptures.

Brother Joe Howe, Capuchin, a member of the St. Crispin Friary for the past ten years, is the person always available to assist you during your visit. Brother Joe often leads retreats and other groups in Morning and Evening prayer.

Katie Araj has been with us for the past 19 years as housekeeper, keeping all the private rooms clean and inviting, doing laundry and working with the Administrator in setting up for each group or individual.

Nicolette Ellinghausen joined us two years ago as part time Administrative Assistant. Her organizational skills and deep commitment to the center enriches both the smooth running of Capuchin Retreat and the atmosphere of friendliness and kindness.

Bob O'Brian joined us in February, 2011 as the Maintenance Supervisor for the plant. He comes with many years of experience and knowledge. He coordinates the day to day upkeep of the center and helps with long range preventative maintenance.

Steve Endres, has worked in our maintenance department for the past12 years and coordinates with the Maintenance Supervisor for the smooth running of the facility and grounds on a daily basis.

webassets/website.jpgMr. Fred Cavaiani is a part-time consultant for our programing and also presents a number of programs himself at the center. Fred is a professional psychologist with his own practice. He is a webassets/website.jpgspeaker in many parishes and other organizations throughout the Archdiocese and beyond. He has degrees both in theology and counseling.

We also have our Extended Preaching Staff who join us for the theme retreats and are available for spiritual direction and other programs put on by the center. The four women and two friars are:

Betty Navarre is a member of the extended preaching staff. She is a commissioned spiritual director and has also worked in parish ministry as a staff person for adult formation. She is co-director for The Week of Guided Prayer and has done series of presentations in Bible Study. She has been married for 41 years with 2 adult children and 3 grandchildren.

Paula Dow Is a member of the extended preaching staff. She has been married for 39 years with three adult children and six grandchildren. She has training for spiritual direction and the spiritual exercises. She is a supervisor in an internship program for spiritual direction.

Diane Neville is a member of the extended preaching staff. She has been married for 25 years and has a son and daughter in college. She is a commissioned spiritual director and trained in the spiritual exercises. Diane also has an MBA and had hosted a program on Michigan Catholic Radio. Diane McDonald is a member of the extended preaching staff. She presently works full time as a pastoral Associate at St. Ronald's parish. She has a Bachelor degree in Theology and trained in death and bereavement. She has two children and three grandchildren.

Fr. Jim Andres, Capuchin, is a member of St. Crispin Friary since July, 2010 and a former Director of Capuchin Retreat. Jim comes to us after serving for 10 years as a Pastor in the area. While he is officially retired, he is involved in many weekend retreats and other programs at Capuchin Retreat.

Fr. John Celichowski is the provincial minister of the Midwest Capuchins. He joins us on occasion during the retreat season to assist in the weekend retreats. He also offers other programs at times here at Capuchin Retreat. John previously was an inner city Pastor in Milwaukee and is on numerous commissions dealing with justice and peace.
