Franciscan Spirituality Series

Join us in the beautiful surroundings of Capuchin Retreat as we present the final two new topics about St Francis of Assisi. This was, without question, the most popular series we presented in our 2011-2012 weekend schedule. This year’s topics expand on the life of the Saint who has had such an incredible impact on spirituality for anyone who has come to know him.

Each program begins at 1 p.m. and concludes around 4 p.m. with Sunday Liturgy available after the program for those who wish to attend. Suggested donation for these programs is $30 each, which includes snacks.

To register, contact Rose Ann Miller at 248 651-4826, or register here.

What Is "The Gospel" Franciscans Are Called to Preach?

Presented by: Fr. Michael Crosby, OFM Cap

We often take the notion of "Gospel Values" or "Living the Gospel" as self-understood. Michael Crosby will suggest we have as many meanings of these notions. He will begin by examining the notion of "gospel," how it was proclaimed by Jesus and Paul and then show what a Franciscan "gospel" entails.

”Without Anything of My Own”
Presented by:
Fr. Dan Crosby, OFM Cap

Many Franciscans vow to live “without anything of my own” in their profession ceremonies. In many ways the phrase captures the heart of Jesus and Franciscan spirituality. But what does it mean and how can we live it in our everyday lives? This program will help us uncover some of its radical beauty and challenge not just for Franciscans but for all who desire to live an authentic Gospel life

Learn about the speakers:

Michael Crosby, OFM Cap is a member of the Midwest (Detroit) Province of the Capuchin Franciscans. He lives in fraternity with other brothers in a parish in downtown Milwaukee that serves people who are poor and marginalized. Dan Crosby, OFM Cap is presently director of St Anthony Spirituality Center in Marathon, WI. Whatever ministry he’s had (college teaching, inner city or reservation pasturing), Dan has tried to integrate Franciscan Gospel spirituality into all his preaching. He’s been a well received retreat master though this country and Canada.
